Dear Woman of God,
“Trust in the Lord with ALL your heart and don’t rely on your own understanding. In ALL your ways, acknowledge God and He will make your paths straight”
It’s been a while since I last shared, but God put a word on my heart that I wanted to quickly share with you ladies. The above verse; I’ve read it, heard it and recited it so many times growing up…in Sunday School, at Church, in Bible studies and in my own quiet time. You think you can recite and study a verse so many times, but man! when you APPLY it and REMIND yourself of it, it encourages you OVER and OVER again.
This morning, in fact, this whole week, I have been dealing with a a seed of doubt in my mind about God’s plans for me. “Comparison” is the devil I tell you. Things have been happening in other’s lives, that have made me question God’s plan for me. One night I was with my sister and as a result of letting this “seed” linger a bit, I said to her, “You know what, I realize that most of my dreams have not come to pass for me”. Then it got me thinking of all the things I’ve wanted to happen lately, that haven’t, and yes I was listing them to God Himself. You can imagine God facepalming himself as He listened to this ‘little me’ tell Him what He hasn’t done yet! lol. I slept on that note of ‘submitting’ my formal complaint to God and since then, I’d be living life and all of a sudden, that seed of doubt reminding me of where I am ‘not’ at, in life creeps up. It’s a joy killer!
But man, this morning I decided to search for God’s truth in this situation, I looked up Bible verses that would remind me of God having a plan for my life; and Boom! Good old Proverbs 3:5-6 spoke to me of ALL verses. I feel like God had tucked a golden nugget reminder in the line ‘…and don’t rely on your own understanding” (vs 5). Man, HOW many times do we do that? Lean and focus only on what we CAN see, instead of what we can’t. How many times do we lean on what we understand about our situation, instead of what GOD ALMIGHTY understands about our situation? God see’s the roadmap of our lives from a bird’s eye view perspective and He sees how granting us certain desires and plans will have an effect on us in the long run. You see, God will do anything to keep you in His care, and if He sees that granting you a desire, will LEAD you astray, He does not want that. Now, you, as a human, still have a CHOICE. God will not force you to stay in HIS care. You can chase after your dreams, you can make your desires a Reality, but the SAFEST road and clock to be on, is God’s road and His timing. Do not rush what God is Trying to do in your life. If you have been in a season for SO long – HOLD ON! Don’t leave prematurely. Don’t LEAN on your understanding of how long or how hard or how ‘unrewarding’ it has been! For God is WORKING in you and through you to achieve a purpose faaaar greater than worldly goals and gold. One day, you will be able to look back and finally understand, WHY God had you in that season. Hold on, keep being faithful, keep seeking God, keep praying, keep believing, keep the faith and don’t let the devil plant that seed of doubt in your mind that God has forgotten You. He KNOWS what He’s doing Child, hold on!
When I read this verse again this morning, God reassured me of why He said no to certain desires that I had and I SMILE now knowing that He knew they were simply not the best for me. So SMILE Child, God KNOWS what He is doing.
Love you all and praying for you too.
