Dear Woman of God,
Walk by faith, not your feelings <3
I don’t know who needs to hear this, but do you ever get to a place in your walk with God where you don’t “feel” God anymore? Where He almost feels distant. You know He’s there, but you just can’t feel Him like how you did before? You read your bible, you pray, but you ‘feel’ nothing. The words on the pages don’t click like they used to and the high you felt before isn’t there. Child, don’t listen to your feelings. This is fleeting. Your feelings, your emotions, are nothing but your body’s natural hormonal reaction to the situations and experiences you go through, but they are NOT a reflection of God’s heart, love and choice, for you.
“Your feelings, your emotions, are nothing but your body’s natural hormonal reaction to the situations and experiences you go through, but they are NOT a reflection of God’s heart, love and choice, for you”
Hebrews 13:8 says that Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. Can we just marvel at that truth? The fact that unlike us, God’s love, His heart, His choice for us (and not against us) is the same Love, the same Heart and the same Choice He had yesterday as He has today, and will have FOREVER?!
That is, God chose you yesterday, He chooses you today and will still choose you tomorrow. He loved you yesterday as much as He loves you today, and will love you just as much forever. His heart for you doesn’t shrink when you mess up and fall, and it doesn’t grow when you get it all right. God’s heart for you STAYS the same; it is just as big as it was yesterday, today and forever.
Praise God for that truth!!! and that IS TRUTH <3 If you are walking with God and you are ‘not feeling it’. Don’t trust in how you feel, trust what God said in His Word, cause this – He, will never change. He said He is the same yesterday, today and forever. If you have never walked with God and don’t have a relationship with Him, you don’t need ANYTHING to qualify yourself to be in a relationship with Him, just a heart that is totally repentant (truly sorry for going your own way), turn back to God and He will forgive you (Acts 3:19). Not only will He forgive you, He will help you desire and walk in a way that pleases Him (Philippians 2:13) Talk to Him, like you would a friend and ask Him to help you find friends who love Him, so you can walk together. You cannot do this alone, you need people to keep you accountable and to pray for you when it get’s tough. Walking with God is not an easy path, but it is the MOST rewarding. Nothing quenches that thirst in your soul like Jesus does.
In the quiet moments, when you don’t ‘feel’ God, KNOW that He is there and that He is steadfast, unchanging and ever present. We don’t walk by sight (feelings) after all, we walk by FAITH <3 (2 Corinthians 5:7).
Keep pressing on. Don’t give up.
In moments like this, keep reading the word, keep praying, keep spending time with the Lord, surround yourself with people who love Him and stay connected, play worship music and sing out loud while reflecting on the words! Push through my dear sister and don’t give up. Sorrow may last for a night, but JOY will come in the morning (Psalm 30:5).
I’ll end with this beautiful quote by Martin Luther Jr.
“If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do – you have to keep moving forward.” ― Martin Luther King Jr.
Walk by faith, not your feelings, my dear sister!
Praying for you always xx
